What’s a review?

Reviews are a combination of star ratings and personal comments that show how satisfied guests were with an accommodation, and whether the host or guest left a good impression. They’re key to establishing trust and credibility on 9flats.com.

There are two types of reviews:

  1. Accommodation reviews: It is possible to provide a review respectively with stars on places in the five categories cleanliness, location, exact description, furnishings and price/quality. On a scale of 1 to 5 five stars amounts to a very good review and one star is bad. 
  2. Guest/host reviews: a guest can give their view on a host, and vice versa. These are text-only reviews, without star ratings in different categories.

Reviews can only be left after a completed trip. However, you can leave recommendations for friends at any time to boost their credibility – especially useful to help new hosts get their first bookings.

Tip: you get €3 when you leave your first review or recommendation.

Where can I find reviews?

You’ll find them at the bottom of every accommodation page. Also, in a list of search results, you’ll see the number reviews next to each accommodation’s average star rating. Click on the stars and you’ll go straight to the reviews.

Do I have to leave a review?

No, but we ask you to please leave one as they help other users find the right place and the right host. Above all, they add extra trust and transparency to our portal.

When should I leave a review?

We recommend that you leave your review as soon as possible, while your trip is still fresh in your mind. You’ll get a reminder email one day after check-out, and again one week later if you still haven’t managed to leave a review.

Host should also review their guests. The more positive reviews a guest has, the more hosts will want to have them to stay. Plus, we’ve found that leaving a review for your guest increases your chances of them leaving one for you.

What should I say in a review?

There’s no right or wrong review. It should simply be objective, factual and honest. Did you enjoy your stay? Was the place better than you expected? Would you recommend it to another guest? You’ll find more details about what not to say in our terms and conditions, in point 11.

Can I change or delete a review?

Sorry, no. No review, whether positive or negative can be changed or deleted. And for good reason: 9flats stands for credibility and transparency. This means enabling both guests and hosts to give honest feedback.

Tip: In case you are not satisfied with a review we recommend you find out why you were rated badly and try to improve for the next time.
