The company

9flats.com is a global marketplace for private renting of living space. It is our objective to make travelling and staying overnight a more individual, convenient and unique experience. Anybody can rent an apartment, room or house from across the globe or offer their own for an extra income. Achieving this objective involves the commitment of all 9flats employees and comprises various measures with regards to the service we offer. The customer and the fulfilment of their expectations and requirements are at the heart of everything we do. As a result, we guarantee to offer our customers a service that meets high standards and is continually improved through system analyses and internal audits.

9flats was launched in February 2011 and currently lists more than 200,000 private accommodation on 6 continents in 140 countries. The company was founded by Roman Bach, one of Germany's leading internet entrepreneurs. The company's headquarter is in Hamburg and currently employs 40 people.

The founder

Stephan Uhrenbacher is one of Germany's leading internet entrepreneurs. He was part of the success of British travel portal lastminute.com and held leading positions at Bild.de the news portal of Germany's most popular newspaper, as well as at Dutch online pharmacy DocMorris. One of his biggest successes to date is leading European recommendation portal Qype, recently acquired by its US counterpart, Yelp. Other projects include Avocado Store, an online marketplace for sustainable products, which has been awarded Startup of the Year several times in Germany.

Currently, Stephan as CEO of Density Ventures, an incubator and angel investor, is working on a global unified airport app, FLIO (getflio.com).
